Tour duration: 11 Days / 10 Nights



Upon arrival, proceed to the immigration counter to complete all of your immigration formalities. If you already have your Vietnam visa, the procedure usually takes 20 - 30 minutes to complete. Then, head to the exit gate and meet your guide there. Transfer to your hotel for check in (from 1300 only) and relax.

In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Literature, the first University for the sons of mandarins. Follow this with a walking tour through the old quarter of the city. Visit a local house and take your time talking with the hosts and learn about their family’s life and history. Continue to Ngoc Son Temple nearby Hoan Kiem Lake. End the day with a leisurely ride on a rickshaw around the city and through its hidden alleyways.

From 06.30 PM, start an interesting Hanoi night tour, including tasting some Hanoi’s street food (Bun Cha, Cha Ca La Vong or Pho), then drink local beer on a pavement of Ta Hien street (Hanoi’s backpacker area) or lemon tea at the courtyard outside of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, then Dong Xuan Night Market or take a walk around Hoan Kiem Lake, finish at a cozy pub/café. Tour ends around 10.00 PM.

Overnight in Hanoi.


After breakfast, spend the morning touring the other landmarks of the capital. Visit Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and his personal residence, the One Pillar Pagoda and the Tran Quoc Pagoda. End the morning with a visit to the Museum of Women.

In the afternoon, take an interesting visit to the house of a water puppet artisan – Mr. Phan Thanh Liem. Upon arrival, enjoy a welcome drink and be welcomed by the host. Spend some time exploring his house which is designed as a small museum displaying all types of traditional water puppets and listen to his sharing on the passion and how his family keeps the arts for 7 generations. Also take this chance to see how a puppet is made from the beginning and finally enjoy a private show at his own stage. Say farewell to the artisans and transfer back to your hotel.

From 06.30 PM, start an interesting Hanoi night tour, including tasting some Hanoi’s street food (Bun Cha, Cha Ca La Vong or Pho), then drink local beer on a pavement of Ta Hien street (Hanoi’s backpacker area) or lemon tea at the courtyard outside of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, then Dong Xuan Night Market or take a walk around Hoan Kiem Late, finish at a cozy pub/café. Day 3: HANOI – HALONG BAY (B – L – D)

After breakfast, depart for the stunning Halong Bay (3 ½ hour drive) located in the Gulf of Tonkin, a must see in Vietnam with over 1600 islands and islets, most of which are uninhabited.

Arrive at Halong City, check in and board a junk. Lunch will be served while cruising towards the bay.

In the afternoon, enjoy some visits and activities or just spend some time relaxing on board (Possibility to swim in the bay if weather permits). Dinner is served on board.

Overnight on Halong Bay.

Day 4: HALONG BAY – Flight to HUE (B – Brunch)

Breakfast on board and enjoy the fresh morning in the bay. The cruise ends around 11h00 am. Disembark and drive back to Hanoi airport. Arrive at Noi Bai airport in the late afternoon and take the flight to Hue.  Welcome upon arrival at Hue airport and transfer to your hotel.

Pick up at your hotel in Hue, take a boat for a short cruise on the Huong river. Visit Thien Mu Pagoda which is located on the river bank and is an iconic seven-story pagoda considered the unofficial symbol of the city. After that, visit the Imperial Citadel, a complex covering an area of 520 hectares comprising three circles; the Hue Capital Citadel, the Royal Citadel and the Forbidden Citadel. Continue to Emperor Tu Duc's Mausoleum, built according to the laws of geomancy.

Hue is famous for its garden houses - the aesthetic wooden architectures and Feng Shui based gardens depicting a mingling of royal legacy and rustic lifestyle. Enjoy a home hosted lunch with some interactions with the villagers and listen to their stories which provide you with better understanding of Vietnamese culture and history.

In the afternoon, before returning to the hotel, take a walk through Dong Ba Market, where you can find anything from fabric and gold to fake watches, fresh flowers and street food.


Overnight in Hue.


After breakfast, drive to Hoi An via the spectacular Hai Van Pass, visit the Cham Museum, probably best museum in the world focusing on the ancient kingdom of Champa. On arrival, transfer to your hotel and relax.

In the afternoon, discover the charming old town of Hoi An, an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port during the 15th to 19th centuries. Many of the buildings in the town reflect historical architectural styles and the whole town is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage site.  Enjoy a walking tour in the old town. Visit Phuc Kien Pagoda and the Japanese wooden bridge. Followed by a visit to a lantern making cottage and learn how to make this handicraft yourself.

Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 7: HOI AN COOKING CLASS – Flight to SAIGON (B – L)

After breakfast, transfer to Vy’s Market Restaurant. Upon arrival, be welcomed by the chef and take a guided walking around many live food counters in a unique interactive dining venue in Vietnam, only can you see it here in Vy's Market Restaurant in Hoi An. See, smell, taste, touch and enjoy different food making processes. Try samples of over 10 different food counters including banh mi, dumplings, pickles, weird and wonderful food, sweet treats and many more. See how rice paper is made from the beginning, dry on bamboo and later roasted as rice crackers and savor with Hoi An chilli sauce and salads. Explore how Cao Lau is made, see the noodles rolled out by hands and cut in the traditional way with a long knife and steamed over an open fire. Hands on any food making processes if you wish.

After this interesting part, continue on to a cooking class where you could learn how to choose ingredients, cut techniques together with exploring Vietnamese food culture. Finish and enjoy what you have just cooked with unlimited drinks and sweet treats. After the class, get a cooking school recipe booklet of Vietnamese cuisine and a cooking utensil to take home as a souvenir.

In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for a flight to Saigon. Upon arrival, be welcomed and proceed to your hotel for check-in and relax.

Overnight in Saigon. 


After breakfast, enjoy a full day exploring the city. Visit the former Presidential Palace, or as it is known today - the Reunification Palace. Then head to the historical heart of the city and visit the Notre Dame Cathedral (outside visit only due to its renovation). The red bricks of the cathedral walls were originally from Paris, France. From there, take a short walk to the old Central Post Office. End the morning with a visit to the War Remnants Museum and discover some different perspectives on the war.

In the afternoon, visit the best-preserved buildings from the colonial era, the Opera House and the Hotel de Ville now home to Saigon’s municipal authorities. Continue to Catinat building. Built in 1927, in an art deco style, it has once again become a hub for fashion conscious Saigonese and contains many designer boutiques, galleries, restaurants and cafés. Transfer back to your hotel.


Curious about what Saigon is like after dark? A foodie tour on the back of a Vespa in the early evening reveals the city's culinary secret by taking you to see and taste exotic foods and brews in Saigon's authentic nightspots. Our driver and tour guide will stop at a small shop with a reputation of selling the best “Banh Mi” in town. Choose your own stuffed Banh Mi then proceed to a small coffee shop where you can enjoy some Vietnamese signature drinks or smoothie followed by an interesting ride to an old Saigon building for you next stop through busy streets and alleys to see the local life at night. Enjoy interacting with your drivers, the locals while trying the specialty of Vietnam. Another habit of Saigonese at night is eating seafood and your night won’t complete without this interesting activity. Savor street seafood and cold drinks at a hidden “Oc” (seafood) vendor located away from the busy city. After savoring yourself with seafood, the tour will take you to a dessert place to enjoy some fresh Vietnamese sweets. On the way you will pass a historic complex which is very lively and busy at night with hundreds of local vendors. Then continued on to a hidden Vietnamese style pub to enjoy a cup of local beer which is perfect for a night cap. Have some drinks while interacting with the talented bartender, share the stories with him about cocktails, beer, wine or even about your life experience or homeland memories before being transferred back to your hotel for a good night. Make sure you start the journey of discovery on an empty stomach because you will definitely come back full.


Overnight in Saigon.


After breakfast, depart for 1.5 hour drive to Ben Tre, one of the country’s southern provinces, situated in the Delta of the Mekong River.

Arrive at the riverside, enjoy a welcome drink and take a cruise along the river for a view of the Delta. Visit a traditional brick workshop where people still make bricks by hand. Switch to a bicycle and ride along the picturesque village roads. During the cruise, make some interesting stops at local fruit orchards, or lush vegetables gardens. Visit Mr. Sau Khanh who is famous for his collection of antiques and a lively, fun character, who will show you how to climb a coconut tree – the symbol of Ben Tre. You can try too if you wish!


Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Take a small walk to the river bank where you will continue your journey exploring the Mekong on a rowing sampan along small and green canals.


The excursion ends at Ben Tre Pier at around 3:00 P.M and transfer back to Can Tho. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for check in and relax.  


Note: For those who cannot ride the bicycle, motorcart is available upon request.


Pick up at your hotel and take a short walk to the habour, board a charming wooden sampan to visit the Cai Rang floating market and the maze of canals and tributaries of the Mekong river. Enjoy your delicious breakfast on board while cruising among hundreds of trading boats in the floating market. As you explore the vibrancy of the colours and the culture of “river commerce”, you can choose fresh ingredients for your cooking class later on. After that, visit a local market on land to buy other produces before heading to a lovely garden for your cooking class. Hands-on cooking some of Mekong Delta’s specialties and enjoy your meal in a peaceful setting. Have some talks with the locals to get a deeper insight of the life in Mekong Delta. Transfer back to Saigon.


Overnight in Saigon.


After breakfast, free time at leisure till transferring to the airport for departure flight.

Each itinerary is individually booked and confirmed by our team of resident experts ensuring travel is operated according to your proposals. Each request is dutifully responded to within 24 hours unless negotiations and special requests are required on your behalf; our team will ultimately inform and follow up.


 Saffron Travel offer confidential rates based on market research, competition analysis, strategic negotiation and in-depth information for each specific season in each destination. These rates are offered under the condition that they cannot be displayed in any way to third parties. All quoted rates, unless otherwise specified, are net and non-commissionable.
All hotel rates in our confidential tariff are per room per night and inclusive of all applicable charges and taxes, unless otherwise specified; all tours and transfer rates in our confidential tariff are per person and inclusive of all applicable charges and taxes, unless otherwise specified; specific services from outside our confidential tariff will be offered on a case by case basis

Many hotels include compulsory special gala dinners on Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and sometimes on national and/or other festive occasions in each country. This is a compulsory charge, and will be communicated and invoiced by Saffron Travel where applicable.


Unless otherwise specified, all quoted rates are inclusive of applicable taxes (including service charges, Value Added Taxes and/or locally charged taxes). Domestic tourism taxes and/or airport taxes may be applicable and are not included. These need to be paid directly to the relevant authority, by the traveler.

In the event of government imposed tax changes, Saffron Travel reserves the right to alter the rates accordingly. Saffront Travel will work to avoid this from occurring however reserves the right to collect any differentials from the clients individually, which may arise.


25% of the total tour cost to be deposited upon commitment of the tour, this deposit is non-refundable. The remaining 75% of the total tour cost to be paid 45 days prior to arrival date. If booked less than 45 days from arrival, full payment is required immediately.

Where deposits and advance payments are required from contractors/third parties, these will also be invoiced to the client for payment (in addition to the 25% deposit). This will be required for Saffron Travel to secure services contractors/third parties. Pre-payment procedures during high/peak seasons may also vary, depending on the accommodation policy to guarantee the booking. Saffron Travel will inform you accordingly about this for each individual case.
