PHNOM PENH (L)

Upon arrival Phnom Penh airport, welcomed by a tour guide and transfer to hotel for check in.

In the afternoon, visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, housed in the former school that was taken over by the Khmer Rouge and used as its main detention and torture center named ‘S-21’, the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and then browse through the Russian Market, the best place in the city for wood and stone carvings, jewelry, clothes and Cambodian silk souvenirs.

PHNOM PENH - KOMPONG CHAM - KOMPONG THOM (B-L)

After breakfast, drive to Kompong Cham via Wat Nokor. Wat Nokor is a modern Theravada Buddhist pagoda squeezed into the walls of an 11th-century Mahayana Buddhist shrine of sandstone and laterite. Enjoy an orientation of Kompong Cham and discover its colonial architecture.

In the afternoon, continue on to Kompong Thom, stop at Phum Prasat to see its pre-Angkorian tower located within the village’s pagoda as well as other villages en route should time permit. Arrive at Kompong Thom in the late afternoon.

KOMPONG THOM - SAMBOR PREI KUK - SIEM REAP(B-L)

After breakfast, discover Sambor Prei Kuk, a Pre-Angkorian temple complex located about 30 kilometers outside Kampong Thom, on the eastern bank of Tonle Sap Lake - also known as Isanapura, capital of the Kingdom of Chenla. Continue on to Siem Reap visiting some villages along the way, as well as the Naga Bridge, an ancient Angkorian bridge still in use today.

SIEM REAP- ANGKOR TEMPLES (B-L)

After breakfast, visit Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Khmer Empire under the reign of Jayavarman VII. Enter the area through the impressive ancient South Gate carved out of stone and see the four giant faces of the Bayon Temple in its centre. This 12th century masterpiece is a study in grandeur and is well known for its 54 towers with enigmatic faces representing the 54 provinces of the Great Khmer Empire. Continue to the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. Overnight in Siem Reap.

In the afternoon, depart to Angkor Wat, Built during the reign of King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century, Angkor Wat is the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious center since its foundation. The temple is one of the best examples in existence of high classical Khmer style architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag. Return Siem Reap town and on the way, discover Khmer natural and handmade products during a visit to a local handicraft center.

SIEMREAP- ANGKOR TEMPLES (B-L)

After breakfast, drive to the North of Angkor area to visit the pretty temple of Banteay Srei, it is also called The Citadel of Women which remains the best preserved temple in Cambodia.

After breakfast, visit the twin temples of Thommanon and Chau Say Tevoda (early 12th century). Continue on to the unfinished mountain-temple of Ta Keo, the Srah Srang holy pond, Bantey Kdei and finally visit the Ta Phrom, located on the southern edge of the East Baray, founded by the Khmer King Jayavarman VII as a Mahayana Buddhist monastery. Ta Prohm has been left in much the same condition in which it was found with trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings.

SIEM REAP – ANGKOR TEMPLES – TONLE SAP LAKE (B-L)

After breakfast, depart for the Roluos group of temples, the oldest of all Angkorian temples including the temples of Lolei, Preah Ko and the pyramid of Bakong, which is the first of the great pyramid mountains. Continue into Roluos town to visit a local market, untouched by tourism, follow the course of the Roluos river, board a Sampan for the journey down to Kompong Phluck, a commune and village in Siem Reap Province in northern-central Cambodia. It is a floating village on the Tonle Sap lake. Continue the cruise along the lake, see the stilt houses and learn about the daily life of the villagers, the impressive flooded forests and glorious sunset. Return to Siem Reap in the afternoon.

After breakfast, take a Tuk Tuk for a short ride to visit the National Museum, then relax before transferring to the airport for a departing flight.
