PHONG NHA – TAN HOA – TU LAN (L – D)

Pick up at hotel in Phong Nha between7:30 am and 8:00 am with your tour guide in town, where it’s then off to travel back in time to the tiny village of Tan Hoa. A thorough safety briefing starts the tour, and then it’s a 2.5 km stroll across fields of peanuts, corn, and muddy water buffaloes. The adventure accelerates with a 30m climb up a rocky hill to a small jungle opening where you can catch your breath before a 100m descent in elevation down to Hung Ton Valley.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at Hung Ton Valley, followed by some hard trekking from the Valley to Mango Mountain and down into Tu Lan Valley. The distance is 3km. Arrive at Tu Lan Campsite where you can just relax and enjoy the peaceful landscape by the beautiful waterfall. After that, explore and swim through Ken Cave located next to the campsite. Enjoy a BBQ dinner together, stories around the campfire, and a good night’s sleep in comfortable hammocks strung up beside the beautiful waterfall.

TU LAN – TAN HOA – PHONG NHA (B – L)

After breakfast, do some more cave exploration followed by a brief swim across the river into the heart of Tu Lan Cave system. Enjoy the blue lagoon entrance before making your way 180m downstream through Tu Lan Cave entrance. Squeeze through the entrance to explore what lies ahead in this mysterious cave. The adventure winds down with the climb down from Kim Cave to To Mo Cave, and follow the dry path before swimming out through Hung Ton wet cave. Continue on to a dry passage and then trek down into Hung Ton Valley (800m).

Arrival in Tan Hoa is followed by a chance to take in the scenery and relax with a cold drink in hand. Showers are available for those who would like to clean up and change, and then departure back to Phong Nha is at around 4 pm, with arrival in Phong Nha by 5:30 pm. (Note: 6:00 – 06:30 from November to March).
