CAMBODIA ANCIENT & MODERN (CCT04)

A fuller tour of the Kingdom Of Cambodia covering both the capital city Phnom Penh and then flying to Siem Reap to explore The Angkor Temple Complex.

Day 1 PHNOM PENH
Visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a school that was taken over by the Khmer Rouge and used as its main detention and torture center named ‘S-21’. Then, visit the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and browse through the Russian Market. The market is the best place in the city for wood and stone carvings, jewelry, clothes and Cambodian silk souvenirs.

Day 2 PHNOM PENH - SIEM REAP
Visit the National Museum followed by a Tuk Tuk ride to the temple of Preah Khan. This temple was built at the time of King Jayavarman VII during the late 12th century as a royal residence during the construction of Angkor Thom. Next, stopping to see the local market provides a chance to engage with locals, observe their way of life.

Day 3 SIEM REAP-ANGKOR TEMPLES
Visit the twin temples of Thommanon and Chau Say Tevoda (early 12th century). Then explore the unfinished mountain-temple of Ta Keo, the Srah Srang holy pond, Bantey Kdei and finally visit Ta Prohm temple, founded by King Jayavarman VII as a Mahayana Buddhist monastery. Ta Prohm has been left in much the same condition in which it was re-discovered in the mid-19th century with ancient trees growing out of the ruins in the surrounding jungle.

Day 4 SIEM REAP – ANGKOR TEMPLES (B-L)
Visit the temple of Banteay Srei carved in pink sandstone. It is also called The Citadel of Women and is one of the best-preserved temples in Cambodia.

Day 5 SIEM REAP- TONLE SAP LAKE (B)
Depart for KomPong Phluck, a floating village on Tonle Sap lake. Board a sampan and enjoy a picturesque cruise along the lake and see the village houses on stilts, flooded forests and learn about daily life of the local community. Return to Siem Reap in the early afternoon.
