HO CHI MINH CITY – SONG XANH SAMPAN CRUISE (MEKONG) (VMS07)

Proceed to Cai Be’s colorful floating market and cruise amongst the local barges laden with fresh fruit and vegetables.

Cruise upstream on the Tien Giang River, one of the two largest arms of the Mekong in the direction of Vinh Long and Sa Dec.

Down narrow waterways discover a hideaway of unspoiled nature, luxuriant gardens and fertile orchards.

Visit a traditional brick making workshop as you continue the journey on to Sa Dec, the little “Venice” of the Mekong Delta, with its numerous narrow canals bustling with all kinds of traders.

Disembark at the local market place and begin your exploration in this charming town by walking along its narrow streets. Take photos of the beautiful old houses and Chinese temples. Stop at a house dating from 1890, home of Ong Huynh Thuy Le, the former “Lover” from the famous French book of the same name by Marguerite Duras.

Lunch will be served on board as you cruise down to Can Tho along a beautiful narrow canal. Pass under several wooden “monkey bridges” and by numerous tiny villages before making a stop to visit a Cao Dai Temple.

The last stop before sunset is a splendid ancient house or “Nha Co” dating from the early 19th century. After a personal welcome by the owner, a romantic candlelight dinner will be catered in this unique atmosphere.

Day 1

HO CHI MINH CITY – CAI BE – SADEC – CAN THO (L – D)

Pick up from the hotel in Saigon and transfer to Cai Be. Board a private sampan and visit some local workshops to observe the traditional techniques of making rice ice paste, coconut candies and other specialties. Proceed to Cai Be’s colorful floating market and cruise amongst the local barges laden with fresh fruit and vegetables.

Day 2

CAI RANG – CAN THO-HO CHI MINH CITY (B)

Breakfast is served at 7.00 am, while approaching Cai Rang floating market, the largest market in the whole Mekong Delta Region. Cruise among local barges full of fruits and vegetables and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the morning market.

The excursion ends at around 10.00 AM at Ninh Kieu Pier.
